Hinterland

Two episodes of the "celtic crime noir" and I'm hooked. Still, if you watch too much of this sort of thing you could start to imagine that during the course of one's ornithological explorations of Ceredigion you'll be forever coming across old folk bludgeoned to death in crumbling cottages under leaden skies. Happily, this was not the case in the Teifi valley this morning near Llanfair Clydogau where the sun shone intermittently and warblers warbled in profusion. Pied Flycatcher, Grey Wagtail and Grasshopper Warbler were not necessarily to be expected and so were a bonus. Arfon, I'm delighted that you finally caught up with the Green Woodpecker. I'm sure I read somewhere recently that Great Spotted Woodpeckers can do perfect vocal imitations of Green Woodpeckers.........
