An early start at Llanrhystud did not reveal much apart from one singing whitethroat at the lime kilns, a few swallows and numerous sand martins. On the way back to the car we had 4 dunlin in summer plumage as well as about half a dozen ringed plover.
A bit later at Pendinas sedge warblers seemed to be singing everywhere alongside a couple of whitethroat. On the river we had a common sandpiper and the highlight was a flock of at least 35 whimbrel and 2 bar-tailed godwit (one in full summer plumage) flying back and forth between Tanybwlch beach and the sheep fields.
