It is not often I creep over the border from Breconshire, but in a good walk today I noted 28 spp, best being...............;
Soar y Mynydd - pr Common Sandpiper, 2 singing Tree Pipit, singing Redstart, Grey Wagtail, 2 male Whinchat, Cuckoo
Doethie Fach – 4 male Whinchat, male Stonechat, male Yellowhammer
Doethie Fawr – Cuckoo, 8 male Whinchat, pr Stonechat agitated
I was most impressed by the Whinchat count it seems to me still early – a total of 14 males, and all bar 2 on fencelines appeared to be on territory singing lustily.
