According to the following website 1 billion birds die annually because they hit windows/conservatories etc.
Not sure if this is correct but I guess some of us have experienced dead birds under their windows. I regrettably have particularly when less experienced juveniles fledge and are finding their way round - despite various mitigation matters.
Anyway I had a pair of Whitethroats in the garden yesterday, 12 May (a new garden bird in fact), one of which was found dead later in the evening presumably after striking a window. All that way to migrate just to die before breeding.
On a lighter note, two pheasant's nests found in the last couple of days. One in the hedge (4 eggs) and one in the field (3 eggs). Two males about now with three females. Not sure why I am getting so excited about a Chinese import!
