He was always fun to have along on the birdwalks with his wife Anne and has been much missed during the last year whilst he battled with a rare form of leukaemia.
David was an ex-farmer so he always brought a practical and experienced view of things into any discussion but he also had a deep appreciation of birds and animals.
He would, I'm sure, have a wry chuckle at being posted next to news of a dead cormorant and expect me to have quoted his ring number!
