Another gorgeous sunny and calm day, plus a 5.0m tide, tempted me out to Ynyslas. Unfortunately I was unable to find anything other than small numbers of the usual wildfowl and waders, though at least 30 Reed Buntings were feeding on the saltmarsh.
So it was off to the turn car park for a look at the sea. Excellent light and a flat calm sea meant that, if there was anything out there, I should be able to find it. After much scanning, the final result was 110 Common Scoter and a single Great Crested Grebe. It seems like a long time since Red-throated Divers could be counted in hundreds here.
This wasn't moving the year list on, so I headed to the Clettwr. The long and pipitless walk to the railway bridge was made worthwhile by a ringtail Hen Harrier seen through the bridge, flying up the estuary.
On the way back, a Little Egret was feeding in the river near the little footbridge.
