Bits & pieces

Bit of a round up for the last couple of days - yesterday began with a cup of tea and a Hawfinch at Sue and Terry's - thank you both, much appreciated, what a cracking bird. About 30 White Wagtails and 10ish Wheaters, some of them looking like Greenlands, along the beach at Llenrhystud late yesterday afternoon with 14 Med Gulls and small numbers of Manxies and Sandwich Terns off shore. A 1st winter Iceland Gull washing in the river at Teifi Marshes was a nice suprise, however the main highlight was watching at least 300 white wagtails going to roost in the reed bed. A quick trip up to Tregaron Bog this evening resulted in my first Grasshopper Warbler of the year and a site first for me - a Green Woodpecker at the southern end of the bog. It seems that I misses the real star though, a Hoopoe reported by Birdguides as being on Tregaron Bog this afternoon. Anybody know any more about this, it must be the same bird that was seen a couple of days ago in the village.
