Yesterday Pete and I met up with John and his guests shortly after high tide at Ynyslas. The driving rain kept us carbound and by the time it cleared the tide was ebbing rapidly.
Before then I had seen some waders fly in towards Aberleri and had ventured into the rain to have a look, finding five Whimbrel, four Sanderling, a few Dunlin and Ringed Plover and a stunning male Grey Plover in breeding plumage, unusual here in May.
Later some more small waders flew in and in the sunshine we all enjoyed 19 Sanderling among the Dunlin and Ringed Plover.
