Cross Inn Forest/Bethania
Following the same three tracks that I have done for a few years now resulted in the usual abundance of Warblers with 7 species present. I counted 70 Willow, 37 Chiffchaff, 24 Whitethroat, 12 Blackcap, 7 Garden, 4 Sedge and one Grasshopper. Overall, remarkably similar to last year, though with the area becoming gradually more wooded again it is noticeable that Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps were a little commoner, while others such as Sedge, Whitethroat, Tree pipit and Reed Bunting were a little less so. Maybe just a coincidence. Also present; 2 Cuckoos and a Crossbill. Also, a female Wheatear foraging in the centre of the forest in a recently cleared patch, which I presume was a migrant (to Greenland?).
