This notice is the usual winter closure of the river walk (which was shut for the whole summer and well into autumn because of grazing animals) and is related to hunting/shooting rights. It is not always used for shooting but the railway line is best avoided at those times when it is, though it does shift the birds around!
Rumour has it that there are Shorties on the north end so worth coming along other than on those dates.
