I did a re-run of my NEWS sector this afternoon from Cwm Tydu to Newquay: at Bird Rock a small bird flew into the bottom of a bush and quivered its tail; first year Black Redstart !
Over the cliffs along the route I had a good hand of raptors: kite, female sparrowhawk, kestrel, buzzard and Merlin. The ravens were around the nest site.
Not a single AUK to be seen even though on Jan 10th I counted in excess of 150 birds on the ledges; no doubt this has to do with the massive storms but where did they find shelter?
