Record busting

Had an extraordinary couple of hours walking this morning from Pont Gogoyan to the edge of Llanddewi Brefi village plus a short detour to "explore" a fairly large pool half a km south of the bridge(the one that I mentioned to you a few weeks ago Arfon). 56 species was easily the most I've seen on such a trek locally. 7 Warblers inc a couple of Sedge by the river, Grasshopper in the wet fields around the pool and Wood in mixed forest on the ridge. A couple of Pied Flys and my first Spotted, just above the disused quarry. The gorse here also had singing Yellowhammer. Later, I was to see what was possibly the same bird in a tree next to the B4343, before it flew off in the direction of the hillside. Little Grebe and Moorhen were on the pool. A further couple of hours in Cwm Brefi could possibly yield another ten species or so. A wonderful part of the county.
