Ynyslas and Dyfi Bends

Roy Bamford and I went to Ynyslas to catch the high tide this morning, hoping we might be able to find another spectacular feeding-frenzy close to shore.  Starting at the Turn Car Park we saw quite a few gannets, gulls and other odds and ends strung out along the coast, but there were masses of birds in a concentrated area to the north, probably off Tywyn.  We moved to the point where there were a few Ringed Plover and a solitary Sanderling on the pebbles, and as we walked back to our car a group of c100 golden plover flew over.
After Ynyslas we decided to go the Glanyfi lay by and look at the river and wet-lands.
We pretty soon located the Red-breasted Goose seen at Ynys-hir recently, in amongst a line of Barnacles.  Other highlights were aproximately 30 Pintail, a dozen or so Littlet Egrets and a Peregrine lazing on the Marsh.  In the trees across the road, below the castle there was a small flock of mixed thrushes, Mistle, Song and Redwing feeding on Yew berries.  Apart from one brief shower as we walked out to the point, we enjoyed really beautiful, sunny weather.
