Harriers and Rails and a Coot

On Maes Llyn this afternoon was a coot, not a resident regular but they do turn up from time to time.  Out on the bog were male and ringtail Hen Harriers but not together.  The male was hunting and above and around him was a Merlin, I suspect it was after any small birds flushed by the HH.
On the way back down the railway line I heard 3 separate Water Rails and when using my phone torch to find a little parcel left by Toffy I flushed a Woodcock….I thought they were supposed to be 'dazzled' but obviously Samsung 5 isn't bright enough.

Waiting for the Harriers
