Ynyslas - Glandwr

A quieter morning in the migrant front but what better way to see in the day than listening to signing Grasshopper Warblers, drumming Snipe and a chorus of Sedge and Reed Warbler at Glandwr. A walk around Ynyslas produced a steady movement of Whimbrel and Bar tailed Godwits, some in stunning summer plumage. I estimated 50 Whimbrel and 50 Bar tailed Godwit. A single Arctic Tern was at the point with 15 Sandwich Tern. A single Red throated Diver and Common Scoter flew north amongst the small numbers of Manxy and Gannet. 5 Tree Pipit flew north overhead while only 5 Wheatear were seen. Highlight for me were great views of up to eight singing Grasshopper Warblers in the dunes. A great way to end my last morning in th county. Good to bump into John, Harry, Mervyn, Janet, Arfon, Mike and Russel during the week, I look forward to reading about your spring finds!
