Odd Pied Flies!

Dave, I photographed this guy last year and was considerably puzzled for a while: he was singing his head off and displaying and guarding a box in the usual style. Having looked it up I discovered that they do vary ,but usually male oddities have more grey than brown, I am certainly no expert , but I thought this might help a wee bit.
I include a "normal" to compare.
