THE MWNT WRYNECK

    I visited my cousin who lives at Felinwynt last week and I went to Mwnt on Thursday morning.  I could hear a really squeaky call coming from the creek that sounded like a young bird calling.  I didn't investigate as I was too busy sea-watching and watching Choughs. 
     I have seen the post on the Ceredigion birds website of a Wryneck being seen at Mwnt on Saturday.  I have played the call of a Wryneck on Google and I am confident it was a Wryneck calling at Mwnt on Thursday morning.  I have only seen Wryneck once before and never heard one calling.  I need to investigate in future when I hear an unusual call!
