Allt Olmarch

Cool, chilly, breezy. How I yearn for those hot February days. This private wood lies half way between Lampeter and Tregaron and is about 1km square in size. Graham, the owner, is always telling me that he has to defend his practice of maintaining it as a coniferous plantation against those who feel that such a place is devoid of wildlife. Birds present this morning inc. 20 singing Blackcaps, 3 Wood Warblers, as well as Chiffchaffs, Willow Warblers, Garden Warblers and Whitethroat, a Crossbill and a calling Willow Tit. The latter appear to have been continuously present at this site since at least 2007.
