I walked a circuit from home to the Soden Valley and back
yesterday (12th).
There were several groups of swifts passing north east into
the stiff breeze. As far as I could see these birds were on passage. I wonder if
anybody else saw them?
Near home I was dropping down into the small scrubby Nant
Crogal valley and disturbed two birds that were perched about a foot apart on a
bush - one was an adult cuckoo and the other a small brown thing probably a
dunnock. I was very pleased to see the cuckoo local reports are pretty
scarce.
