Another visit to Llyn Mynydd Gorddu yesterday, with the following to report
-
Tufties - only five ducklings left now out of the original ten! Plus a pair
of adults.
Coot - a pair present (ie they weren't trying to massacre each
other.)
Little grebe - one family party with 3 tiny grebelings. At least one other
bird present, probably a second pair.
Sedge Warbler - heard singing for this first time this year, and a Curlew flew over, calling.
A few days ago I visited the sand martin colony at Llyn Syfydrin. It is at
330 metres asl.
At least five tunnels were being visited out of a total of about 50. A
faecal sac was seen being removed from one tunnel. A maximum of ten birds was
seen although that could have included juveniles.
At Pendam there was a common sandpiper and at Llyn Blaenmelindwr were four
adult tufties.
