Hills behind Bontgoch

On the way out of Talybont this morning en route Bontgoch, I saw my first red-legged partridges in this neck of the woods on the outskirts of the village. The aliens have landed!

In the hills behind Bontgoch, there was little to report. Grey wagtail on the stream near Craig y Pistyll and the ravens showing well thereabouts were the highlights. A few years back I spent a lot of time in the area between Nant y Moch and Bontgoch. It's somewhere I know pretty well. With today's glorious weather I was expecting to see a few more birds. I was particularly struck by the paucity of meadow pipits and skylarks. It certainly felt like a silent spring in the hills.
