Recent sightings

Having noticed that some mature trees had recently been felled alongside the A487 between Bow Street and Commins Coch, I decided to investigate. I walked in from Capel Dewi and discovered that they were ash trees; a farm worker told me that it was under orders from the HIghways Agency. While I was there a woodcock flew out of the hedge next to the main road and went into the woodland on the other side of the road. At the back of Newman's Garden Centre three snipe flew up from a dry field.

I checked out an inland peregrine site on Sunday and a pair of adults were present, visiting last year's nesting ledge together. So that looks promising.
