Following a very uneventful cetacean watch at Borth Memorial last Tuesday,
I walked along the coastal path into Aberystwyth. There were at least three
pairs of chough around plus the odd whimbrel and curlew along the shoreline.
What struck me most was the lack of stonechat anywhere - just one male between
Clarach and Consti. Rather strangely there was a grasshopper warbler reeling
nearby.
At sea there was a small but steady northerly passage of gannets and
shearwaters quite close in.
