sand martins galore

Hi, your walk to Foel Fawr sounds good we thought to try it today but made it south to Llanrhystyd .The tide was exceptionally low and the sea a gorgeous blue so we walked for the first time along the shore to Llansantffraid. There were 5 oystercatchers joined by 6 curlew and a few large gulls. Just as the grassland rises above the beach I was able to watch two or three sandmartins checking out their holiday home.Eventually after crossing the Peris we made it to the church which was unfortunately locked. Our return route along the costal path gave us some amazing views of the coast from Aberaeron to Aberdyfi and another chance to see the oystercatchers. We came past what must be the Lime Kilns and then back to the beach at Llanrhystyd ,where there was a wheatear I'm reliably informed .I was beginning to feel rather tired by then but had thoroughly enjoyed the two hours it took. I was amazed just how much sand there was on both beaches, and just how peacefulit was. On arriving home we were delighted to see that the Rheidol martins had returned too!So Foel Fawr is another treat in store.
