Ynyslas

Pleasant sunshine but a very cold easterly wind this morning at Ynyslas. Met up with John Davis at the northern point and saw 100 odd golden plover, some in lovely summer plumage, 146 ringed plover and a few dunlin and oystercatcher. Offshore some very close manx shearwater, a juvenile kittiwake and three 'commic' terns too far off for specific identification. Following a text message from Kevin McGee that John received regarding 2 cranes flying our way from the direction of Penrhyncoch we scanned hopefully skyward while walking back to the cars but saw nothing. Later heard that they were seen flying north-east from the Morfa Dyfi osprey site so another Ceredigion tick missed. Wrong place and wrong time yet again but the manxies almost made up for it plunge diving very close to shore.
