
Early this morning the northern-most end of the golf course was teeming with birds; 18 White Wagtails, 30+ Meadow Pipits and some Linnets, Wheatears and Skylarks.Offshore 100 or so Manx Shearwaters were close in, plus some Common Scoters, a Red-throated Diver, Gannet, Razorbill and Kittewake. A dark-bellied Brent Goose flew along the shore and into the Dyfi estuary.
(Chris Bird tells me that yesterday Manxies and Gannets were close in off Castle Point at Aberystwyth and that today he heard a Green Woodpecker again, up where he lives near Trefenter.)
I then met up with Russell J who pointed out all the Golden and Ringed Plovers. Even better was meeting Lowri who has joined the summer wardens team at Ynyslas. However, that was topped by the call from Kevin McGee, see below...........
