Went to Llanrhystud yesterday.Bitterly cold, grey and virtually birdless it seemed, though I notice that John Woodruff saw a few House Martins. A whole lot more than I managed. In my experience, a bad day at Llanrhystud can be very bad indeed!
In contrast walked round Long Wood(Betws Bledrws) today in the warm sunshine, going over the ridge via the hillforts to Lampeter and back to Llangybi through the woodland itself. Either in or just outside Long Wood; 20 Chiffchaffs,7 Blackcaps,12 Willow Warblers,13 Redstarts, 8 Nuthatches, 6 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 8 Siskins and single Tree Pipit, Marsh Tit, Sparrowhawk and Redpoll. No sign of any Pied Flycatchers. Hopefully, they and the Wood Warblers are on their way.
