Chris Bird again noted 7, possibly 8 Purple Sandpipers at Upper Borth this afternoon. To the south, at Wallog, he estimated at least 86 Red-throated Divers and 100+ Common Scoters offshore. A Stonechat was also there.
I was at Aberystwyth watching the Starlings. Their performance was especially good, enhanced by the protracted presence of a Peregrine which eventually took one. I met someone who had come all the way from Swansea to see the Starlings and she was well pleased. Ian and Rachael and other student birders were also there and they pointed out the Buzzard which was under the pier and causing some consternation amongst the Starlings.
My breakfast was again disturbed this morning with news that the Hawfinch was once more in a Pontrhydygroes garden. I am joining the household there tomorrow for breakfast and keeping my fingers crossed!
