One extreme to the other at Ynys-hir

Now the snow has gone we seem to be suffering from a surfeit of rain with lowland wet grassland more resembling lowland wet lagoons. The path to Ynys Eidiol and the Breakwater hides is now flooded and inaccessible even with wellington boots. Despite the rain a quick foray out revealed lots of pintail, teal, mallard, shoveler and wigeon on Lodge Farm with a solitary greenshank feeding with the redshank and lapwing. The Greenland white-fronted and barnacle geese were on Penrhyngerwin with over 1000 teal, 20 goldeneye, 2 whooper swans and a single tufted duck on the lagoon near the Breakwater hide. A very pale buzzard with some resemblance to an osprey (even with a dark line through the eye) was a suprise though the obviously shorter wings and lack of dark brown on the back was a giveaway.
