Thanks to Mike for his observations on Wood pigeon diet and habits, that is interesting and certainly fits in with what I have witnessed. A large number of birds were on the meadow again over the weekend. I was thinking yesterday how different each year turns out; on the positive side I have seen at least three new species in the garden this year. Also a terrific increase in the number of Goldfinches, despite those lost to the Hawk’s. But on the other hand a steep decline in other species; no Nuthatch for two years and sadly very few Greenfinches are in evidence on the feeders at the moment let’s hope they have a good breeding year and make a super come back!
