Another Nice Day Out

Bob, Harry and I met bright and early on the prom. at Aberystwyth. A Sandwich Tern on College Rocks was the first of the year for the three of us. Twice it looked as if it was flying off out to sea, only to return, finally onto Castle Point Rocks.
Four Purple Sandpipers and a male and female Wheatear were also there and three, possibly four Bottle-nosed Dolphins put on a good show some way offshore.
There was a sprinkling of waders at Llansantffraed and a couple of Red-throated Divers.
From the comfort of the seating at Aberarth we watched a Canada Goose, far out on the sea, steadily drifting north. Distant Gannets were seen and a couple of Goosanders much closer in.
After chips and then  seeing 11 Turnstones on the metal breakwater at Aberaeron we headed for the cliffs at New Quay and were immediately rewarded with the sight of a couple of Swallows and a Sand Martins speeding northwards.
There were masses of Auks present, plenty of Kittewakes and some Fulmars and Chough. Shags and Cormorants were  on their nests brooding their eggs.
