Yesterday John and I met at Aberystwyth, where I saw my first Kingfisher of the year, and then went over to Cross Inn Forest. We had hoped to see the Great-grey Shrike but we dipped out on him. Instead we saw a couple of Willow Warblers (heard more) 2 pairs of Stonechats and a Sparrowhawk - we lost count of the number of Buzzards we saw. Whilst searching for the shrike we stopped in our tracks to listen to a Grasshopper Warbler reeling very close-by. Unfortunately we weren't able to spot him either. Later at Llanon we saw 2 Mediterranean Gulls, an adult and a second winter.
This morning I was delighted to see a male Blackcap on one of my garden feeders.
