Hobby

On a walk with a guest at Ynys-hir on Tuesday morning we bumped into Russell close to Marian Mawr hide. Whilst we were chatting a Hobby flew over our heads and continued across the Dyfi, intent on chasing hirundines.
The following day, Wednesday, on our afternoon walk on Foel Fawr at about 3:40 Buster and I watched a Hobby fly over towards the pond in front of the visitor center at Ynys-hir. I lost sight of it for half a minute but picked it up again as it flew back towards us with what was probably a dragon fly in its talons - it was obviously tucking into something as it flew along, but the something was too small for me to see.
This morning at about 9:40 I was on Foel Fawr, again looking over towards the reserve when I heard corvids shrieking behind us, way up over the hill. When I turned to see what all the fuss was about I saw an agitated group of crows following a Hobby repeatedly dive-bombing a Sparrowhawk.
