Kites (Lots of them!!) at Rhydlewis.

At 11.30am this morning we were travelling to Glynarthen via Rhydlewis and were amazed to find over 25 Red Kites gathering above Rhydlewis village. Since the early summer we have regularly noted groups of up to 5 or 6 Kites over Rhydlewis as we pass through. We travel to our caravan on our building plot at Glynarthen most weekends and can vouch for the popularity of Rhydlewis amongst the local Kite population. We can usually count on there being at least a few in the sky above the village whenever we pass through. We have noticed that gradually, the numbers there have been increasing but today’s gathering was exceptional. There also seems to be something there that holds them quite persistently, certainly mid morning when we are there on the weekends.

Does anyone have any ideas to explain these numbers? Has someone in Rhydlewis set up an “unofficial” feeding station?
