whitefronts and marsh tit
Ynys Hir at high tide today at first promised just extended viewings of Canada geese then these long distance travellers appeared from the rushes! I hoped a GPS tag might appear from the feathers to announce a celebrity: Speedy the Greenland whitefront who walked 50 miles across the Greenland ice cap in 2008 when strong winds and icy blasts grounded him, but no, not him but who knows how often this happens? A goose that looks like a Christmas dinner waiting to happen might just have done such a thing...well, these things pass through my mind on a sunny morning at high tide in the breakwater hide at Ynys Hir.
Later in Long Wood near Lampeter I was treated to close views of a marsh tit, long tailed tits, coalies and a couple of goldcrests; not a bad day considering Europe teeters on the edge and I've got a few Euros left from the last trip.
