Clettwr 6/11/11

After a gentle walk up the clettwr without seeing much of interest, the sun shinning, the tide way out, we settled by the railway bridge for coffee. Suddenly 3 kites put a bird up on the marsh and started mobbing it, a short eared owl flew higher and higher out of reach. It finally came back and put in a nice display of hunting over the creeks putting up everything from dunlin to little egret. I then noticed a bird way down the estuary feeding on the short turf, an unlikley black swan. New bird for me for ceredigion! Up to 200+ golden plover over by the cattle ynyshir end ended a lovely morning. Forgot, at last we saw the male black redstart .
