I was at Coed Dolgoed this morning not expecting to see too much in the rain but 7 reed buntings was a nice surprise in the scrub. 4 bullfinches were in the wood and a flock of 40 or so siskin flew over. Later on I came across a flock of blue, coal and marsh tits (x3) with a solitary nuthatch. Another large flock of birds were close by and they turned out to be lesser redpoll, there must have 60 - 70 of them, biggest flock I've seen of this species. Whilst walking out of the woodland, I spotted from a distance, a small bird flitting along in the gloomy sky not unlike a swallow. It had a slow'ish wingbeat and seemed to be bobbing about all over the place, I'm pretty sure it was a jack snipe
