Shorty's still around

A Short-eared Owl was quartering the field beside the Leri Boatyard this afternoon.
There were about 50 Curlew in a flock mixed up with Wigeon out on the saltings and 6 Sanderling on the sand near the row of posts at the end of the beach. I bumped into a lady dog-walker, Jan, who told me that her husband had picked up an injured owl nearby and taken it to a local vet a few days ago, she didn't know what sort of owl. Unfortunately the bird had to be put down. If the local vet happens to be reading this, I would be very grateful if you could get in touch and let me know what species it was........
