Ynyslas

A very warm and sunny morning, without even a cooling breeze. On the inland side, 205 Sandwich Terns were joined by a Common Tern and a Common Gull.
At the point, on the rising tide, 96 Dunlin, 22 Sanderling, 16 Ringed Plover and 3 Knot, still showing much red.
Off shore, probably a few thousand Manx Shearwaters and a couple of hundred Gannets, with most birds resting on the sea. I had looked at the sea earlier, starting at Aberystwyth and also at Upper Borth, and both manxies and Gannets were present in much reduced numbers. From Ynyslas point, it appeared that the big flocks were gradually moving north, with many north of Aberdyfi towards Tywyn.
There were eight Mediterranean Gulls on the beach at Borth, near the reefs.
