Still going strong

I have still got five Hs Martin nests on my wall full of young birds nearly ready to fledge these are all second broods and despite enthusiastic encouragement from what seems every Hs Martin in the sky at times they are holding fast and refusing to take the plunge. Another nest which was attacked and robbed of its eggs on two occasions by a GSW was successful on the third attempt and fledged four birds it may of helped that it was a threesome rather than a pair I also noted this year one bird appeared to have a nest on my wall and a nest a couple of houses down. The morals of these birds are outrageous :-) . All day yesterday in a field at the bottom of the garden which has a tendency to flood in heavy rain I had the company of eight Mallard and five Herons, they appeared again this morning. The normally shy Herons appear particularly tolerant never seen the like of it before.
