white wags

Eventually we managed to photograph one the parties of wagtails flying along the beach at Llanon south to confirm they were whites not pieds.
Also a lone wheatear beautifully marked but not hanging around for a mugshot. Otherwise a very quiet time on this part of the coast.
At home at 7pm a lone house martin flew up to a nest under our eave which had earlier been, seemingly, abandoned after a successful brood due, I thought, to adjacent wasp nests in the other 2 artificial nests. The wasps are still there so seems my theory was wrong. It can be hard to know if a HOUMA nest is active during the sitting stage as witnessed by an acquaintance who was mortified to find newly hatched young in a nest he had knocked off his wall prior to painting in late August.  I did suggest painting around the nest was an option.
