Llanrhysted

A really cold east wind made viewing at Llanrhysted very uncomfortable but once on the beach there was some shelter from the ridge and a few waders also took advantage: 8 grey plover with a few ringed plover, one sanderling and a couple of turnstone. 13 redshank,11 golden plover and about 20 curlew were moving between shore and fields whereas the lapwing were on the fields with some less mobile goldies and redwings, fieldfares, song thrushes and a few skylarks. One red throated diver was on the sea with a couple of cormorants and oddly one shelduck was on the muddy patch in the field.  So not the bonanza of birds seen on previous days.
On the way over from Tregaron we saw large numbers of kites over Tregaron and Penuwch. The day started with an early fly past by Eddie but yesterday we saw him with a very bulging crop so he must be hunting successfully. We have warned Toffy not to linger in the garden!
