We had a Sparrowhawk in our garden on the Buarth in Aberystwyth at around lunchtime, our twentieth species in the garden this year, the most interesting regular visitors currently probably being the pairs of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers and Nuthatches.
Earlier, on a third abortive search for the Purps and the Black Redstart this year, J had seen one solitary Oystercatcher on the rocks in front of Old College and a Little Gull, apparently with a broken wing, on the beach the other side of the Pier. I expect the Peregrine will have had him for dinner by now, poor thing.
