January 31st
Like Bob, John and others I too had a good last day of January. At Ynyslas the male eider and great northern diver were close to the Leri Mouth and a group of 13 knot and 60 dunlin flew towards the mouth of the estuary. At Aberystwyth I saw two of the adult little gulls at south beach seen by others previously but the bird of the day for me was a yellow-legged gull on the beach opposite the Belle Vue hotel. This was interestingly also a third year though probably different to the one seen by Arfon at Cei bach. A sea-watch at Borth produced little of note. As a lister my target for Ceredigion for 2013 is 180 bird species and am now on 103 so lots of birding to put in yet. I still have not seen a shag in the county this year as well as a few more of the commoner species.
