Llanrhystud to Llanon
Always keen to try new things I indulged in a couple of hours of 'legging' between Llanrhystud and Llanon first thing this morning and managed a fairly decent list of migrants including over 30 whimbrels, 5 common sands, 20+ Greenland wheatears, 7 white wags and loads of swallows heading north. There was a good variety of warblers at the lime kilns and surrounding hedges with blackcaps, chiffs, willow warblers, whitethroats, lesser whitethroats, garden warbler, sedgies and (3) groppers all putting in a showing. Small numbers of meadow pipits and the odd tree pipit passed overhead as did a smattering of siskins and redpolls. Imagine what I might have seen if I'd only stayed put a little more!
