I have said to several Ceredigion birding stalwarts that I think it's possible that Eddie MIGHT be a genuine wild bird for broadly the same reasons as Kev has put forward - it has no jesses and never had them when it first arrived, and to my knowledge nobody has tried to claim or recapture it. On a clear day, a young wild bird soaring high above Ireland would be able to see our coast and if it was looking to establish it's own territory might well come this way. My remarks have mostly been greeted with derision, but not by everyone.
I'm not saying it definitely IS a wild bird, but the only argument I've heard put forward against it being so is that it can't be, we don't have eagles in Wales!
