Rookie behaviour on the Rheidol

Ive read or heared somewhere that the communication between rooks was amazingly efficient.Wednesday evening at 8pm was all I needed to believe this as we witnessed 200 plus rooks in a loud raucous black cloud flying from Capel Bangor towards Lovesgrove.Within seconds the cloud split with half the birds continuing and the other half turning around and flying back towards Capel Bangor.Quite a few seemed to realise they were in the wrong cloud and quickly changed course.Within a matter of two minutes the evening sky cleared and silence decended once more.Has anyone else seen this happen and can you remember what it means?
