New Quay and then something a little different
A sea watch off New Quay Head between 7am & 8.30am produced a few bits and pieces amongst the passing kittiwakes, gannets and auks. Highlights included 2 Great Northern Divers, 5 Red-throated Divers, 2 Bonxies, a pale bellied Brent Goose and perhaps the last Manxie of the year.
After a mug of tea and slice of toast in Aberaeron I came across the best contender that I have seen in Ceredigion for Nordic Jackdaw (NE European form). The bird, which was wandering up and down the footpath outside the Harbour Master had a really pale nape, slightly mottled looking body plumage and a clearly defined broad, white collar that really stood out. Next time you stop for a bag of chips in the Celtic have a good look at the Jackdaws, you might be surprised what you see.
