2012 Report.
Since its publication last October sales revenue has enabled the Wildlife Trust to be repaid the £1020 which they, as always, paid to the Printer when the Report came out.
A few copies are left, priced at £9, and can be purchased from RSPB Ynys-hir, the Wildlife Trust's reserve at the Teifi Marshes near Cardigan, Clive Continental Menswear in Terrace Road, Aberystwyth or from me at Pant Llidiart, Trisant, Aberystwyth SY23 4RQ (+ £1.10 postage: cheques payable to The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales).
I also have a few copies of the 2009 Report (£6), 2010 (£7) and 2011 (£8). Any surplus revenue will go towards the cost of ther next Report.
2013 Report.
I hope to make a prompt start and have already received a facinating article on the status of Marsh and Willow Tits in a part of the south of the County. Other articles, as ever, will be very welcome. Similarly I hope to collect photographs from as many different photographers as possible. So, please search through your pictures taken last year and send them to me, as with articles, at johndavis@midwalesbirdwatching.co.uk.
The bulk of a County Report is an account of all species seen during the year. Our Recorder, Russell Jones, maintains the County records, made up of Ceredigion blog entries and from records sent to him. I know he will be delighted to receive records from anyone, local or visitor, who has yet to submit their records for 2013.
Quite simply, what he is not sent does not get into the Report and as a result it is not as comprehensive as it could be.
This will be my last Report. Before coming back here I worked on the Essex Bird Report for many years and more recently assisted Hywel Roderick before his untimely death and then took on the Report. It is time to retire and hand over to someone who can add fresh ideas and enthusiasm. I love doing it and will miss it.
Ideally my successor, don't all rush, should join me in the preparation of the 2013 Report to get to know what had to be done to produce and sell it. Please get in touch.
