Tony Cross' Ruffled Feathers blog has another fascinating tale about the migration of a female woodcock, ringed and satellite tagged in Mid Wales last Spring, and her present location in Yorkshire.
The wonders of modern technology, some of it available to everyone via Google Earth, have allowed her amazing migration, summer home and winter movements to be tracked in detail: read Tony's account and wonder!
Some of the costs are being borne by the shooting fraternity showing the woodcock project to be a great example of collaboration between conservation and hunting interests though I'm relieved that Olwen is currently holed up on a shooting farm where they don't shoot woodcock!
